POWERING CONSERVATION

Renewing and Rewilding

Our goal extends from renewable electricity to wildlife protection, resilient ecosystems and opportunities for local communities.

Generating a wilder future

We aim to strengthen the everyday work of conservation, from restoring habitats and monitoring wildlife to equipping rangers, maintaining water infrastructure and preparing for fire.

Biodiversity and habitat

Establish ecological baselines and guide protection, rehabilitation and wildlife monitoring.

Water security

Use hydrogeological assessment, monitoring and maintenance to guide responsible water provision.

Fire resilience

Support firebreaks, equipment, trained teams and response capacity.

SCALABLE IMPACT

One engine, multiple landscapes

Our ambition extends beyond a single solar site. Tshabalala Sanctuary will be the first beneficiary, connecting renewable energy revenue with practical conservation needs. As the model grows, additional solar revenue will support agreed priorities across additional landscapes – creating a multiplier effect for wildlife, habitats and local communities.

Our first phase has a Memorandum of Agreement with specialist conservation partners at three iconic protected areas in Zimbabwe for the revenue generated by Conservation Energy to support the ongoing development projects at each site for at least the next 25 years.

A site on the outskirts of Bulawayo envisioned as a haven for wildlife, where biodiversity conservation, environmental education and community empowerment have the potential to flourish.

Within a Transfrontier Conservation Area (TFCA) with opportunities to support the wildlife corridors, ranger capacity, water resilience and community livelihoods.

A UNESCO World Heritage site where biodiversity, cultural heritage and community stewardship meet.

A UNESCO World Heritage site and Transfrontier Conservation Area (TFCA) with opportunities to support riverine ecosystems, ecological monitoring and sustained conservation management.

We are exploring opportunities to expand the model across the region.

People and communities

Local employment, skills and procurement can translate project activity into wider social and economic value. Community priorities will be identified through engagement and incorporated into agreed plans.

Employment and skills

Create practical opportunities in construction, operations, maintenance and conservation.

Local enterprise

Support suppliers and service providers through project procurement and associated activity.
